Bunion
A bunion is a common foot condition that occurs when the big toe points inward toward the other toes, causing a bony bump to form on the inside of the foot at the base of the big toe. This can cause the big toe to overlap or underlap the other toes, leading to pain, irritation, and difficulty walking.
The most common cause of bunions is wearing poorly fitting shoes, such as high heels or shoes with a narrow toe box. These types of shoes can put excessive pressure on the big toe, forcing it to bend inward and creating the bony bump. Bunions can also be inherited, and are more common in people with certain conditions, such as flat feet or rheumatoid arthritis.
Symptoms of a bunion may include a bony bump on the inside of the foot at the base of the big toe, pain and swelling in the area, and redness or irritation of the skin. The big toe may also point inward, causing it to overlap or underlap the other toes. In some cases, there may be difficulty moving the big toe or walking comfortably.
