TOENAIL FUNGAL INFECTION
Fungal toenails, also known as onychomycosis, is a common condition that occurs when a fungus infects the toenails. This can cause the nails to become thick, discolored, and brittle, and can lead to pain and difficulty walking if left untreated.
The most common cause of fungal toenails is a type of fungus called dermatophyte. This fungus thrives in warm, moist environments, and can easily spread from person to person through direct contact or by sharing towels or other personal items. Fungal toenails can also be caused by yeast or mold.
Symptoms of fungal toenails may include thick, discolored, or brittle nails, as well as flakiness or crumbling of the nail. The nails may also have a foul odor. In some cases, there may be pain or discomfort, especially when wearing shoes or walking.
