NEUROMA
A neuroma is a benign growth that develops in a nerve, typically in the feet. In the feet, neuromas most commonly affect the nerves between the toes, but they can also occur in other parts of the foot.
The most common cause of a neuroma in the foot is irritation or compression of the nerve. This can happen with activities such as running, jumping, or standing for long periods of time, or with wearing poorly fitting shoes, such as high heels or shoes with a narrow toe box. Neuromas can also be caused by certain medical conditions, such as diabetes or alcoholism.
Symptoms of a neuroma in the foot may include pain, swelling, and tenderness in the affected area, as well as a feeling of numbness or tingling. The pain may be worse with weight-bearing activities, and may improve with rest. In some cases, there may be a feeling of burning or shooting pain in the affected area.
